Pekin Attorney to Be Honored By Illinois State Bar Association for Pro Bono Work

Pekin attorney Kirk W. Bode will receive the John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) for his volunteer work with the Tazewell County Pro Bono Project.

The award will be presented at the organization's Annual Meeting to be held June 17-19, at The Abbey in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Bode was nominated by Sandra Crow, of Prairie State Legal Services, for contributing 78 hours to pro bono representation of ten indigent clients during the past year.

The award, which is presented each year to a member of the legal profession who has shown extraordinary commitment to providing free legal services to the poor, is named for the late John C. McAndrews, a lawyer from Rock Island who, by personal example and his work in the bar association, was instrumental in expanding pro bono legal services for the indigent in Illinois.

The 30,000-member ISBA, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public.
