Events to Accompany Lincoln Statue Dedication At Historic Courthouse in Mt. Vernon

The dedication of a nine-foot bronze sculpture of Abraham Lincoln as a lawyer will take place outside the Appellate Courthouse in Mt. Vernon on Thursday, September 18, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The courthouse, constructed beginning in 1854, housed the Illinois Supreme Court when Lincoln argued a noted case there on behalf of Illinois Central Railroad.

State Bar Association Web Site Offers Disaster Preparedness Information for Possible Flood Victims

SPRINGFIELD – To help potential flood victims along the Mississippi River in the event of evacuation, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) has posted a list of both tips and resources on its consumer website at www.isbalawyers.com. The ISBA responded to a request for assistance from ISBA member William J. Quinlan, legal counsel in the Governor's Office.

Highland Park High School is Statewide Mock Trial Champion

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Highland Park High School, in Highland Park, placed first in the 26th annual Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) High School Mock Trial Invitational held at the University of Illinois at Springfield on Friday and Saturday, February 29 and March 1, 2008. Teams from 48 Illinois high schools traveled to Springfield to participate in the program.

Boylan Catholic High School, in Rockford, placed second, and Timothy Christian High School, in Elmhurst, placed third.
