Illinois State Bar Association Honors 1960 Class of Distinguished Lawyers for 50 Years of Service

CHICAGO, IL – The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) at its Midyear Meeting on December 8 honored the 1960 Class of Distinguished Counsellors at a luncheon at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. The lawyers were celebrating 50 years of service to the Illinois bar (see list below).

Illinois State Bar Association to Present First "Lawyers Care" Award to Bloomington Attorneys, ISU

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Two Bloomington attorneys and the Mock Trial Program at Illinois State University (ISU) in Normal will receive the first “Lawyers Care” award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) on Thursday, September 9, during a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Faculty Commons area of the Bone Student Center, ISU campus.  ISU President Al Bowman will attend.  PLEASE NOTE: THE ACTUAL PRESENTATION TIME IS 4:30 p.m.

Illinois State Bar Association Wins International CLE Program Award

The International Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) announced that the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) received the Best Program Award for Professional Excellence for ISBA’s innovative New Admittee Virtual Coffeehouse: Basic Skills and More program, the top award in the Best Program category. ACLEA will formally present the award to the ISBA at the ACLEA Annual Meeting in New York City on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Illinois State Bar Association Elects Third Vice President, Fills Six Seats on Board of Governors

The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) has elected Chicago attorney Paula Hudson Holderman as third vice president, and six members to its 25-member Board of Governors. Holderman will move up the organizational ladder to become ISBA president in three years.

Consult a Lawyer at No Cost on Saturday, May 1

(SPRINGFIELD, Illinois)  Anyone in Illinois with a question about a legal matter can call and talk to a lawyer – at no cost – on Saturday, May 1, Ask a Lawyer Day.

Lawyer volunteers will answer phones at four locations around the state from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Any Illinois resident can call 1-800-252-8908, toll-free, or a local number in some areas for a free phone consultation with a lawyer.
