ISBA/IJA Joint Midyear Meeting to Feature CLE Programs, Luncheon Speaker, Dinner Honoring Supreme Court

CHICAGO, IL – Former Iowa Supreme Court Justice Michael Streit, who along with two other justices lost a bid for retention after a bruising campaign funded by well-financed organizations opposing the court’s marriage equality ruling in 2009, will speak about his experience and the impact on judicial independence at a luncheon during the Midyear Meeting of the Illinois Judges Association (IJA) and Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers on Friday, December 9, at 12 noon.

Chicago Attorney Appointed to At-large Board of Governors Seat of Illinois State Bar Association

State Bar Offers 2010 Guide to Illinois Statutes for Attorneys' Fees

CHICAGO, IL -- The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) has released the 2010 Guide to Illinois Statutes for Attorneys’ Fees, a handy book that lists provisions in the Illinois Compiled Statutes which authorize the court to order one party to pay the attorney fees of another.  The book lists recoverable fees from the current month through March 2010.

Associate Judges Evaluated in State Bar Poll

SPRINGFIELD, IL – All associate circuit judges in Illinois outside Cook County have been evaluated in a poll of lawyers conducted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).
 
Associate judges are subject to reappointment every four years by vote of the full circuit judges in each circuit. An associate judge must receive the votes of 60 percent of the circuit judges in order to be reappointed. Voting will be concluded prior to the beginning of new associate judge terms on July 1.
