Cook County Judge Celia Gamrath Elected Treasurer of Illinois State Bar Association

The Honorable Celia G. Gamrath, a judge in the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, has been elected treasurer of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA).

Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Gamrath was a partner of the Chicago law firm of Schiller, DuCanto & Fleck. First elected to the ISBA Board of Governors in 2005 as a Cook County Under Age 37 member, she is currently serving a second term on the Board, serves on the ISBA Assembly, Bench and Bar Section Council, and Special Committee on Judicial Disqualification Standards. She is a former chair of the ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law, and a former member of the ISBA Unauthorized Practice of Law Task Force. Judge Gamrath is a five-time recipient of the ISBA’s Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest, and a long-time Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the ISBA.

A past president of the Justinian Society of Lawyers, she is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. Judge Gamrath has been listed in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s “40 Under 40,” Best Lawyers in America for Appellate and Family Law, and the Top 50 Women Illinois Lawyers by SuperLawyers and Leading Lawyers. She is secretary of the Board of Trustees of The John Marshall Law School.

Judge Gamrath received her J.D. cum laude from The John Marshall Law School in 1994 and her B.S. from Indiana University in 1991.
