It's not too late to enter Lane's trial skills courseISBA past president Fred Lane began the spring schedule of his Trial Technique Institute classes on Feb. 12, but it's not too late to sign up and attend your first session at no charge. The weekly 90-minute sessions begin at 5:15 p.m. each Tuesday in the ISBA Chicago Regional Office. The complete nine-month, two-semester course consists of 54 hours of MCLE credit. Attendance also counts toward admission to the Federal Trial Bar in the Northern District. Participants learn and practice the finer points of trial practice, enhancing courtroom presentation styles for both plaintiff and defense litigation. Each class is videotaped so students can review progress as the course progresses, or make up by appointment for missing a session. Co-directors are Fred Lane, who is also a past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and Scott D. Lane, a member of the Tort Law Section Council. Guest faculty members who conduct occasional sessions are trial attorneys Philip H. Corboy, Robert Clifford, Kevin T. Martin, Joseph A. Power, Pamela L. Gellen and Andrew Kopon Jr., and Appellate Justices Warren D. Wolfson and Michael J. Gallagher. For registration details, call (312) 726-8775, access http://www.isba.org/trial. The fees are $875 for ISBA members and $925 for non-members.
