Watch for ISBA candidate info in March Bar News

The March issue of the ISBA Bar News will be delayed one week, so information about election candidates is published closer to distribution of election ballots on April 1.

The Bar News that is received by ISBA members during the week of March 24 will contain biographical information and campaign statements by two candidates for the office of third vice president. One will become president in 2011.

Both are ISBA Board of Governors members from Chicago: Michele M. Jochner, law clerk to Illinois Supreme Court Justice Charles E. Freeman, and John G. Locallo, a partner in Amari & Locallo.

Also published will be biographical information about candidates for six positions on the Board of Governors and the names of candidates for 26 Cook County seats on the ISBA Assembly. Each electee will serve for three years.

Board positions in Cook County are held by eligible incumbents James J. Morici Jr. and Naomi H. Schuster, and Jochner, who is not eligible for re-election.

In Area VII (1st, 2nd and 4th Circuits), appointed board member Shari R. Rhode of Carbondale stands for election. The Under Age 37 seats of Celia G. Gamrath of Chicago (Cook County) and Keith E. Fruehling of Urbana (Outside Cook County) will be filled. Neither is eligible for re-election.

Of the 26 Assembly members from Cook County whose seats are up for election, eight have served the maximum number of years and may not run.

A law student Assembly member from each of the 13 affiliated law schools may be elected to a one-year term. Candidates must have completed at least one semester prior to the election, and may not serve more than two terms.

In order to vote in the election, an ISBA member's dues must be current on March 1 for the period ending June 30.
