Christopher S. Haaff, Crystal Lake. Practices family law throughout northeastern Illinois. His solo practice (website www.haafflaw.com) is located in Crystal Lake, McHenry County. Chris began his ISBA involvement with the Law Student Committee while at the University of Illinois College of Law, from which he graduated in 1997. Two years later he returned to the Law Student Committee, which he chaired (2000-2006). Chris already served two full terms on the ISBA Assembly. This year he is Vice-Chair of ISBA’s Mentoring Committee and Unauthorized Practice of Law Task Force, and also serves on the Family Law Section Council and Young Lawyers Division Council. Chris was the ISBA’s "Young Lawyer of the Year" from outside Cook County (2005). In addition to committee work, Chris supports other ISBA causes. He sponsored the Young Lawyers Division Holiday Party, the YLD Golf Outing, and the Solo and Small Firm Conference, and is a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation. This year Chris will write CLE materials and present at programs sponsored by the ISBA, IICLE, and other organizations, and will attend the ISBA’s Allerton Conference. He also helped judge the most recent Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest for the Illinois Bar Journal, which has published some of his many articles.
