Pro bono efforts recognized at bar association programsSeveral Illinois attorneys were honored for pro bono contributions during recent bar association programs. In Peoria, Trisha L. Strode of Westervelt, Johnson, Nicoll & Keller was honored May 1 during the Peoria County Bar Association Law Day luncheon as Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for exceptional leadership and commitment. Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen was recognized as Law Firm of the Year, and Stacie Mahan-Linder and Nathaniel Strickler of the firm received individual awards. The Peoria County Pro Bono Plan, which presents the awards, is a joint project of the bar association and Prairie State Legal Services. • • • During the DuPage County Bar Association Law Day luncheon May 2 in Winfield, the pro bono work of nine attorneys was recognized by the DuPage Legal Assistance Foundation. They are Susan O’Neill Alvarado, Jesse V. Barrientes, Paul P. Didzerekis, George S. Frederick, Paul T. Kalinich, Michael H. Kenny, Anthony Sammarco, Eva W. Tameling and Robert H. Wier. • • • At the May 27 meeting of the Vermilion County Bar Association in Danville, William A. Young was honored as Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation. Kevin M. Colombo and Edwin C. Barney of Saikley, Garrison, Colombo & Barney; Derek J. Girton of Acton & Snyder, and Pamela S. Howell received certificates of appreciation.
