Law firm gives career tips to at-risk youths

Information about career opportunities in the legal services industry was provided recently to a group of Chicago public school students by members of the law firm of Goldberg Kohn.

At-risk students from the Chicago Training Center, a not-for-profit rowing program, were invited by Alais L. M. Griffin, a litigation associate at the law firm and CTC board member.

Attorneys and staff members discussed their legal careers and answered questions from the students. Goldberg Kohn is the Chicago member of Meritas, an international alliance of law firms that serve and advice business clients around the globe.

The goal of CTC is teach teamwork, discipline and health benefits by making the sport of rowing available to inner-city teenagers. Scholarship opportunities offered in the sport are explained.

Participants in the five-day weekly program also get competitive rowing experience, college visits and attendance at career seminars that enhance athletic and academic development and personal growth.
