D.C. admission is next June

Details have been announced for the Illinois State Bar Association's biennial visit to Washington, D.C., next year for ceremonial admission to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The court has allotted 50 places for admission by licensed lawyers in good standing who have been in practice for at least three years. There is a $200 application fee.

The group admission ceremony is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 1. A continental breakfast that follows usually is attended by one or more Supreme Court justices.

The ISBA Committee on Bar Services and Activities also has slated a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the nearby Willard InterContinental Hotel, where a block of rooms has been reserved. A tour of the Holocaust Museum will take place at 1:30 p.m. June 1.

The special room rate is $319, single or double, for accommodations from Saturday, May 30, through Monday night, June 1. Reservations must be made through the ISBA.
