September 2008 Academy seeks nominees for ’08 Laureates Every member of the Illinois State Bar Association has an opportunity to honor a colleague by submitting a nomination to the ISBA Academy of Illinois Lawyers by Monday, Dec. 1. The Academy was established in 1999 to celebrate excellence in the legal profession and to recognize lawyers throughout the state who have maintained high professional standards during exemplary careers. A class of Laureates is selected annually by the Academy Board of Regents. Nominees must be ISBA members who personify the values, standards and ideals of the best of the legal profession. Candidates must have practiced law primarily in Illinois for at least 25 years and have demonstrated a commitment to the highest principles through a pervasive record of service to the law, the profession and the public. To obtain an informative statement of complete information, and listings of previous honorees, access www.isba.org and click on “ISBA Laureates” under “ISBA and You.” The Board of Regents emphasizes the importance of including letters of support – as many as 10 personal and 10 professional – with the nomination statement and resume. Questions about the procedure may be sent by e-mail to sanderson@isba.org.
