The Women’s Bar Foundation has announced the names of six law students who will receive scholarships totaling $65,000 during a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Tower Club in the Civic Opera Building.

Dennericka Brooks of the Loyola University School of Law will receive the inaugural $15,000 stipend for committing to work for a not-for-profit organization, the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Brooks also received the Kimball and Karen Gatsis Public Interest Law Fellowship from the Chicago Bar Association and Foundation on July 14.

Five other students will receive $10,000 scholarships. They are:

Holly Carnell of the Loyola University School of Law.

Amy Chiang of the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Lindsay Hatzis of the Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Eva Lewis of the Northwestern University School of Law.

Pier Petersen of the University of Chicago Law School.

The Women’s Bar Foundation was established in 1966 to present scholarships to deserving and qualified women law students at Illinois schools.

Since its first scholarship of $300 in the name of Judge Mary Bartelme, 42 years ago, it has awarded more than $1 million.
