Transition

Three attorneys have joined the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg as partners in corporate, securities and insolvency practices. All three were with Sugar, Friedberg & Felsenthal.

They are Leslie J. Weiss and Kathryn A. Erickson, in the Business Department, and Paula K. Jacobi, in the Insolvency and Restructuring Department.

Michael D. Weis, an attorney and certified public accountant, has joined the firm as a partner in the Business Department. He was with Patzik, Frank & Samotny.

Peoria attorney Joseph M. Borsberry has opened a downtown practice in criminal defense, juvenile and family law. He was a partner in Murphy & Borsberry.

Matthew T. Jenkins has joined Corboy & Demetrio, Chicago, as an associate. A graduate of the Chicago-Kent College of Law, he earned a Public Interest Law Initiative scholarship.

An assistant trial attorney with Loevy & Loevy during law school, Jenkins is co-chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Civil Rights and Criminal Law Committee.

Robert C. Linton has joined Dykema’s Chicago office as assistant leader of the Real Estate Practice Group. Formerly a hiring partner in Schwartz Cooper, he headed its Real Estate Department and Leasing Practice Group.

Springfield attorneys A. Michael Kopec and David V. White have established the general civil practice transactional and litigation firm of Kopec & White. They were partners in Stratton, Giganti, Stone & Kopec.

Levin & Schreder, Chicago, has changed its name to Levin, Schreder & Carey with the elevation to partnership of James R. Carey, head of the Trust and Estate Controversy Resolution Group. The firm is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Darren M. Mungerson has joined the Chicago office of Littler Mendelson as a shareholder in employment litigation and counseling. Formerly of counsel to Jenner & Block, he was a member of its Litigation Department and Labor and Employment Practice.

Margaret E. Graham has joined McCracken, Walsh & de LaVan, Chicago, in real estate taxation, tax incentives, exemptions and related areas. She was with Rieff, Schram & Kanter.

The elevation of two founding partners of Meckler, Bulger & Tilson to name partners has resulted in the change of its name to Meckler, Bulger, Tilson, Marick & Pearson.

Michael M. Marick and Steven D. Pearson, co-chairs of the Insurance Coverage Practice, were among 16 original partners when the firm was established in 1994. Both serve on the executive and management committees.

Michael R. Friedberg has joined Shefsky & Froehlich in Chicago. He was with Sugar, Friedberg & Felsenthal.
