Web site helps volunteers

Illinois Legal Aid Online and the Public Interest Law Initiative last month announced implementation of four audience-specific home pages on the Web site, www.IllinoisProBono.org.

They are designed separately for senior attorneys, federal government attorneys, paralegals and law students who are interested in volunteering for pro bono assistance to eligible individuals.

Each home page is customized for a subset of the legal community, containing specific articles and videotaped interviews with pro bono volunteers.

They are designed to provide a clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities, to demystify pro bono work issues, and to educate user group members about how they may improve experience by sharing skills with others.

Among tools that the Web site offers are preparation of several types of interactive legal documents, legal resources in 24 areas of law, and training presentations.

For more information, contact Lisa Colpoys of Illinois Legal Aid Online at lcolpoys@illinoislegalaid.org, or Michael Bergmann of the Public Interest Law Initiative at mbergmann@pililaw.org.

Both have been members of the ISBA Committee on Delivery of Legal Services.
