U.S. Supreme Court admission ceremony scheduled next June

Fifty Illinois State Bar Association members will be admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court during a ceremony scheduled for the first Monday in June 2009.

The biennial ISBA visit to Washington, D.C., for the ceremonial admission will take place Sunday and Monday, May 31 and June 1. Licensed lawyers in good standing and in practice for at least three years are eligible. There is a $200 application fee.

The group admission ceremony is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. June 1. A continental breakfast that follows is usually attended by one or more Supreme Court justices. A tour of the Holocaust Museum will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. that day.

The ISBA Committee on Bar Services and Activities also will hold a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 31 at the Willard InterContinental Hotel, where a block of rooms has been reserved.

The special room rate is $319, single or double, for accommodations from Saturday, May 30, through Monday night, June 1. Reservations must be made through the ISBA.
