YLD party benefits kids’ waiting rooms

Having wrapped up two summer benefits – a Golf Classic in July and a Day at the Races in September - for the ISBA Young Lawyers Division/Illinois Bar Foundation Children’s Assistance Fund, the YLD is looking ahead to several more.

Next on the agenda is the 11th annual YLD holiday party, which is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Joe’s Bar on Weed Street, Chicago.

One of the division’s most successful events each year, the festive holiday affair helps fund the establishment and furnishing of supervised courthouse waiting rooms for children of participants in court matters.

In addition to entry fees of $40 before Nov. 17 and $45 after that. “Friends of the Children” tax-deductible sponsorships are available at levels from $250 to $5,000.

Checks payable to IBF/YLD Children’s Assistance Fund may be mailed to Janet M. Sosin in the ISBA Chicago Regional Office. To register or obtain more information, access www.HolidayParty.org or call Robert D. Fink at (312) 322-0703.

Moving along into 2009, the YLD plans to hold a benefit Bean Bag Tournament from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Durkin’s Pub in Chicago.

Also planned is a black-tie-optional Summer Soiree for networking and socializing from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, in Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center.

A reception, silent auction and dinner are included, with dance music by the Monarch Orchestra. Tickets are $125
