Jon DeMoss is named trustee of law school
ISBA past president Jon W. DeMoss has been elected to The John Marshall Law School Board of Trustees. He succeeds John Lee, who was named president of The John Marshall Law School Foundation, a new position, on Dec. 15.
DeMoss, a former ISBA executive director, is president and CEO of the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co., which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year as the association’s professional liability carrier.
He has been a member of the John Marshall Board of Visitors since its inception in 1990, and has served on the board’s budget committee.
“Jon DeMoss is one of our state’s most recognizable attorneys,” said Leonard F. Amari, president of The John Marshall Board of Trustees and also an ISBA past president.
“He brings a wealth of experience to his new position, and his familiarity with so many of Illinois’ attorneys will greatly benefit the school. His many years of service on various John Marshall boards will allow him to hit the ground running.”
Lee, who is assistant regional director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, also has longtime ties to John Marshall. He was a member of the board of trustees for three years, and he has served on the board of visitors and the alumni board.
A graduate of John Marshall, he is the grandson of Edward T. Lee, one of the founders of the law school.
“John Lee brings a rare blend of historical perspective and future direction to his newly created position at John Marshall,” Amari said.
“As a graduate, a trustee and longtime committee member he has worked to uphold the school’s traditions of opportunity, access and excellence. As foundation president, he will strive to communicate the school’s unique mission to perspective donors.”
