Mark Wojcik concludes long tenure on ABA news board
Mark E. Wojcik, a member of the ISBA Board of Governors, has completed his tenure as editor-in-chief of the International Law News, a publication of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.
A professor at The John Marshall Law School, Wojcik has served on the section’s editorial board for eight years and risen from casenotes editor to deputy editor to the leadership role.
Wojcik’s service concluded with an expanded fall 2008 issue that commemorated the section’s 75th year and 130 years since it started as one of seven committees formed when the ABA was established in 1878.
The special issue of International Law News included a historic chronology of the growth of the committee and section, and a tribute to John Henry Wigmore.
Former dean of the Northwestern University School of Law, Wigmore became the first chair of the Section of International and Comparative Law when it evolved from committee status in 1933.
The section newsletter was first published in 1972, and according to Wojcik, it has the largest print circulation among international law publications worldwide.
As editor-in-chief and chair of the Publications Committee, Wojcik has been an officer of the Section on International Law. In his farewell column, he thanked readers “for giving me a reason to write and to work on this great publication.”
Wojcik also has been liaison from the Section on Criminal Justice to the Section on Individual Rights and Responsibilities and the Commission on Youth at Risk. He chaired the Criminal Justice section’s Law School and Academic Outreach Committee.
