Applications are accepted for bankruptcy judgeship
Applications for a bankruptcy judge position on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District in East St. Louis will be accepted through May 15 by the Judicial Council of the 7th Circuit.
The judge who is selected must be willing to travel to handle cases in other courts in the circuit when needed. The term of office is 14 years, and the current salary is $155,756.
Applicants should be admitted to practice in at least one state court, and be in good standing in every bar of which they are members and of sound mental and physical health.
Each should have a reputation for integrity and good character, and have demonstrated a commitment to equal justice under law. Substantial legal experience and competence, aptitude for legal scholarship and writing, and familiarity with court processes are required.
Each applicant must be able to deal with complex legal problems, and to possess demeanor, character and personality indicative of exhibiting judicial temperament if appointed.

Pursuant to Section 120 of the Bankruptcy Amendments and Federal Judgeship Act of 1984, the Judicial Council will make recommendations to the U.S. Court of Appeals, which will make the appointment.
