Felice, Thies head ISBA election ballots
ISBA members who receive election ballots in a few days will find several contested races for seats on the Board of Governors and Assembly.
As previously announced, the candidates for third vice president are Richard D. Felice of Wheaton, a member of the Board of Governors, and John E. Thies of Urbana, a former board member.
Campaigning for two Cook County seats on the board are two incumbents and two challengers. Mauro Glorioso of Westchester and Naomi H. Shuster of Chicago have filed to retain their seats. Other candidates are Gregg A. Garofalo and Shawn Kasserman, both of Chicago.
For the Area 3 (12th, 13th, 16th and 21st Circuits) board seat now held by Kim E. Presbrey of Aurora, three candidates have filed: Craig D. Brown of Geneva, Lisa M. Nyuli of South Elgin, and John S. Rossi of Joliet.
Two candidates have filed for election to the Area 8 (3rd and 20th Circuits) board seat now held by Dennis J. Orsey of Granite City: Russell K. Scott of Belleville and G. Michael Stewart of East Alton.
James F. McCluskey of Lisle is the only candidate for election to the Area 1 (18th Circuit) seat of Richard Felice.
Incumbent board members Elizabeth L. Jensen of Peoria in Area 4 (10th, 14th and 15th Circuits), and Carl R. Draper of Springfield in Area 6 (7th, 8th and 9th Circuits) are sole candidates for re-election.
No candidate filed for an under-age-37 board seat in Cook County, so the vacancy will be filled subsequently by the Board of Governors.
Thirty candidates filed for 23 open Cook County seats on the Assembly. Ten are incumbents. The list is published in this issue.
Three students at The John Marshall Law School have filed for one law student seat on the Assembly: Tony A. Bruno, Jeffrey Parker and Daniel M. Yukich. No students filed to represent 12 other ISBA-affiliated law schools.
Ballots will be mailed by April 1 to members in good standing. Marked ballots must be returned to the Illinois Bar Center in Springfield or the Chicago Regional office by the close of business Monday, May 11.
