Freedom Day panels planned
The Illinois Judicial Council will conduct a South African Freedom Day symposium on Monday, April 20, at the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
The event will begin with a 5 p.m. reception in the main lobby. The panel discussion on “15 Years of Democracy in South America” will start at 6 p.m. in the Richard B. Ogilvie Auditorium.
Panelists include Nomvume P. Magaqa, consul general for South Africa; Cook County Judges William H. Hooks and Arnette R. Hubbard, and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Others are Prof. Lisa Brock of Columbia College, James Thindwa, executive director of Jobs with Justice, and Funeka Sihlali, a registered nurse.
Panel moderators are NBC-TV news anchor Art Norman and Cheryl Johnson-Odim, provost of Dominican University.
