Runners open season May 16
Spring training has started for the ISBA Sunday Runners, that informal, unofficial aggregation that actually meets on Saturday mornings.
The spiritual advisers – past presidents Leonard F. Amari and Robert K. Downs, along with recording secretary Roberta Conwell – have announced that the inaugural meeting will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 16.
Every Saturday thereafter, the Sunday Runners will gather near the totem pole in Lincoln Park, where Addison Street dead-ends at Lake Shore Drive.
All walkers, joggers and serious runners are invited to partake in three, four or six-mile courses at leisurely paces or full-tilt.
The group generally adjourns for a healthy breakfast at a nearby café, such as the Bagel on Broadway.
The Sunday Runners have only one no-guilt rule: If you come, you come. Tots in wheelers and pets also are welcome.
Contact Conwell at rconwell1@comcast.net or (708) 349-0161, and she’ll make sure you’re in the e-mail loop for future announcements.
