Golf outings raise funds for good causes

Benefit golf outings will be conducted next month by the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation and the Northern Illinois University College of Law.

CVLS has scheduled its annual Golf Fore Justice on Thursday, June 4, at the White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills, with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Law firms will compete for the traveling trophy.

The NIU Law Alumni Council Scholarship Fund is the beneficiary of the Friday, June 12, outing at the River Heights Golf Course in DeKalb.

After 12 noon registration and lunch, the foursome scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The 6 p.m. dinner program includes recognition of alumni award recipients.

The Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services (CARPLS) will hold its 15th anniversary Golden Gavel Awards reception and presentations at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Northern Trust Co. in Chicago.

Volunteers in the DuPage County Bar Association’s Lawyers Lend a Hand initiative will participate in a clean-up project at We Grow Dreams in West Chicago at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 28.

They will wear work clothes and perform various tasks on the grounds of the agency, which provides training and employment in its greenhouse and garden center for people with disabilities.
