Training slated for 18th Circuit children’s reps
The DuPage County Bar Association and 18th Judicial Circuit will conduct a 12-hour training in June and July for guardians ad litem, child’s representatives and attorneys for the child.
Sessions are scheduled from 12 noon to 4:15 p.m. Friday, June 19 (with lunch); from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday, June 20 (with continental breakfast), and from 12 noon to 4:15 p.m. Friday, July 10 (with lunch).
Limited to participation by 100 lawyers, they will take place in the multipurpose room on the first floor of the DuPage County Judicial Center Annex in Wheaton.
Topics for the June sessions include child development, mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, and interviewing children.
Family law and diversity topics for the July session include immigration issues, Islamic cultural and legal differences, and same-sex and bi-racial custody issues.
Attendance at all three sessions is required for qualification as a guardian ad litem, a child’s representative or an attorney for the child.
