Women’s Bar schedules 95th installation
Cook County Associate Judge Patrice M. Ball-Reed, a member of the ISBA Assembly, will be installed June 11 as president of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. She will succeed Associate Judge Jeanne M. Reynolds.
The 95th annual dinner will take place at the Chicago Hilton Hotel, beginning with a 5 p.m. reception. Call (312) 341-8530 for reservations.
A past president of the Black Women Lawyers Association, Ball-Reed is a 1984 graduate of The John Marshall Law School and a past president of its alumni association.
She practiced with Washington, Kennon, Hunter & Samuels for four years before a 14-year career as an assistant Cook County state’s attorney. She also has been a deputy Illinois attorney general.
Active in the ISBA, she is a member of the Illinois Bar Journal Editorial Board, the Task Force on Diversity, and the Committees on Women and the Law, Public Relations, and Legislation.
She has chaired the Committee on Minority and Women Participation and served on the Committees on Bar Publications and Bar Services and Activities, and the Family Law and State and Local Taxation Section Councils.
A Silver Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, Ball-Reed received a Legacy of Opportunity Award in February from the Glenn T. Johnson chapter of the Black Law Students Association at John Marshall.
Other incoming officers of the Women’s Bar Association are Kathryn Gallanis Matern, first vice president; Deane Brown, second vice president; Michelle Kohut, treasurer; Karnia DeHayes, financial secretary; Jessica Arong O’Brien, recording secretary, and Bridget Healy Ryan, corresponding secretary.
Named to two-year terms on the board of directors are Deanna Blair, Vickie Voukidis Blum, Adria Mossing and Karie J. Valentino.
