Carey convenes ISBA Assembly
In his last official act as outgoing president of the Illinois State Bar Association, Jack C. Carey of Belleville will call to order a meeting of the 201-member ISBA Assembly at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 27.
After giving his report of the association’s activities and accomplishments during his tenure, Carey will introduce incoming President John G. O’Brien of Arlington Heights for a preview of the next bar year.
O’Brien also will review and call for adoption of the 2009-10 budget.
Assembly members will hear reports from James R. Covington III, director of legislative affairs, and from John R. Bailen, chair of the Committee on Strategic Marketing for Illinois Lawyers.
Reports also will be heard from Vincent F. Cornelius, president of the Illinois Bar Foundation; Jon W. DeMoss, president of the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co., and Janet Piper Voss, executive director of the Lawyers’ Assistance Program.
Written reports will be provided by the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation and the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois.
Assembly members will elect two members of its Agenda and Program Committee from outside Cook County to fill vacancies for two-year terms.
Resolutions will be adopted in recognition of retiring Assembly members and in appreciation for the leadership of Jack Carey.
