The National Immigration Justice Center of the Heartland Alliance will hold its 10th annual Midwest Light of Human Rights Awards luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the Fairmont Hotel, Chicago.

Awards will be presented to James A. Morsch, partner and pro bono director of Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd; the law firm of Winston & Strawn, and Chicago Bulls basketball player Luol Deng.

The sixth annual My Hero Awards luncheon of the Judge Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Lawyers Lend-a-Hand to Youth Program will take place Thursday, July 16, at the Standard Club, Chicago. Presentations will recognize leadership in and commitment to one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.

The DuPage County Legal Assistance Foundation will hold its annual benefit family outing to a Kane County Cougars minor league baseball game in the left-field deck of Elfstrom Stadium, Geneva, on Friday, July 24.

The annual 5K Race Judicata of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation will be run, or walked, on Thursday, July 30, along the lakefront from Lower Hutchinson Field at Columbus and Balbo Drives.

Runners in the chip-timed competition will start at 6:30 p.m., with walkers following at 6:45 p.m. A party and awards will conclude the event.

Northbrook attorney Barry S. Silver will compete in the Pleasant Prairie Olympic Distance Triathlon on Aug. 16 to raise funds for research in the fight against acute lymphocytic leukemia.
