Ronald Spears is installed as president of the IJA
Judge Ronald D. Spears of the 4th Circuit in Taylorville was installed May 29 as 38th president of the Illinois Judges Association during its annual meeting in Chicago.
A 1977 summa cum laude graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law and a judge since 1993, Spears is past chair of the ISBA Committee on Military Affairs and a former member of the ISBA Board of Governors.
Other new officers include Cook County Judge Lewis M. Nixon, first vice president; Justice Mary Seminara Schostok of the 2nd District Appellate Court, second vice president, and Cook County Judge Rita M. Novak, third vice president.
Others are Justice M. Carol Pope of the 4th District Appellate Court, secretary, and Cook County Judge Michael B. Hyman, treasurer. Hyman serves on the ISBA Bench and Bar Section Council and the Committee on Supreme Court Rules.
Illinois Judicial Council
New officers of the Illinois Judicial Council will be installed during its 27th annual awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, in the Crystal Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Chicago.
Incoming chairperson is Cook County Judge LaQuietta J. Hardy-Campbell. A 1978 graduate of the DePaul University College of Law, she was elected to the bench in 1998.
