Boomer-lawyers’ transitions from practice is subject of Senior Lawyers CLE panels

Now in its second year, the ISBA Senior Lawyers Section has scheduled another series of seminars designed for the attorney who is age 55 or older or has practiced for 25 years or more.

Titled “From Legal Practice to What’s Next: The Boomer-Lawyer’s Guide to a Smooth Transition,” the programs will take place from 12:25 to 5:15 p.m. on consecutive Fridays in June, as follows:

June 6 at the Illinois Education Association, Springfield; June 13 at the ISBA Chicago Regional Office, and June 20 at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

The section also plans to publish its inaugural newsletter this month.

Lawyers who may be approaching retirement age, but do not necessarily plan to fully retire, can taper their practices to make time for personal interests that had been sidelined.

A successful transition requires careful planning, and that is the objective of these seminars. The moderator will be ISBA past president Loren S. Golden of Elgin.

After opening remarks by Golden, a full slate of timely topics will be presented by speakers who are well-informed on issues that affect the senior lawyer.
