Chicago Council honors lawyers

Awards will be presented during the annual benefit dinner of the Chicago Council of Lawyers and Chicago Appleseed on Thursday, April 3, at the InterContinental Hotel. The event begins with a 6 p.m. VIP reception.

Lowell Sachnoff of Reed, Smith, Sachnoff & Weaver and the law firm of Schiff Hardin will be honored, along with Ron Grzywinski and Mary Houghton, founders of ShoreBank. Call Amanda Grant at (312) 988-6500.

Peoria backs legal aid

The Peoria County Bar Association will conduct a “Strides for Justice” benefit 5K run-walk along the Riverfront at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17. Call (309) 674-6049. Proceeds will benefit the Prairie State Campaign for Legal Services.

Legal Aid 2008, another benefit by members of the Peoria County Bar Association for Prairie State Legal Services, will take place Friday, April 25, at the Par-a-Dice Hotel, East Peoria. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for food, drink and music by Central Time Zone.

Fashion show planned

“Runway Jury,” a catered reception and fashion show of attire for young professionals, will be held next month by the CBA Young Lawyers Section as a benefit for the Chicago Bar Foundation.

It will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 17, on the ninth floor of Macy’s on State Street. Call (312) 554-2032.

Defense team to walk

Young lawyer members of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel will participate in MS Walks on Sunday, May 4, at 13 locations across Illinois. To sign up or make a donation, contact Nicole Milos mailto:nmilos@cksslaw.com.

The Illinois walks are sponsored the Greater Illinois chapter of the National MS Society, which last year raised more than $3 million for research and education programs on multiple sclerosis.
