Writing award contest open to young lawyers

Young ISBA members have been invited to participate in the 50th annual Lincoln Award Writing Contest that is sponsored by the Illinois Bar Journal Editorial Board.

The contest is open to members under the age of 36 on July 1, 2008, or others who have been admitted to the Illinois bar fewer than five years. Also eligible are law students who will be admitted on or before Dec. 31, 2008.

Each interested participant must file a notice of intent to enter the competition by July 15.

The Lincoln Award contest is an opportunity for enhancement of one’s reputation as a lawyer, as well as publication of an article in the Bar Journal and a cash prize.

The awards are plaques and $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for third place. Winners will be recognized during the subsequent ISBA Annual Meeting awards luncheon.
