Chas. Northrup is new counsel on ISBA staffSpringfield attorney Charles Jones Northrup, 48, will join the Illinois State Bar Association staff as general counsel on May 19. A partner in Sorling, Northrup, Hanna, Cullen & Cochran, Northrup is a 1988 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he was associate editor of the SIU Law Journal. He was counsel to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission from 1988 to 1990, and then assistant counsel of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency until 1993, when he joined the law firm. His practice has focused on environmental law and professional discipline defense, and he has lectured on ethics and professionalism topics. A former member of the ISBA Assembly and Environmental Law Section Council, Northrup has been a Fellows director of the Illinois Bar Foundation. He has written articles on environmental issues for the Illinois Bar Journal, the Mineral Law Section newsletter, and several other publications. |
