ISBA honors SIU law dean

Dean Peter Alexander of the Southern Illinois University School of Law was honored April 11 by the ISBA Committee on Women and the Law and Committee on Minority and Women Participation (see photo).

During a reception at the law school, Alexander was recognized as an Outstanding Partner for his commitment to shared goals of the ISBA committees in promoting diversity in the profession.

"A selfless mentor, Dean Alexander has become the ambassador of inclusion, inspiring countless others to pay attention to diversity matters and to take concrete steps to increase the participation of minorities and women in the profession," the inscription on his plaque pointed out.

The dean was thanked for being a generous sponsor of a networking breakfast held each June during the ISBA Annual Meeting, and for enriching the pool of talented future lawyers.

The presentation was made by Andrew P. Fox, chair of the Committee on Minority and Women Participation, and Sharon L. Eiseman, chair of the Committee on Women and the Law.
