Small Firm Conference set

The fourth annual ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conference is designed to provide technology information, collegial networking, and opportunities for as many as 18 hours of MCLE and PMCLE credits.

Scheduled from Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 4-6, at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, the three-day event includes keynote speakers, plenary sessions, three tracks of continuous breakouts, exhibits of law-related products and services, a cyber café, and sponsored buffets and receptions.

The track presentations – Effective Practice, Substantive Law, and Technology – will feature experienced faculty members from ISBA section councils and committees.

Ellen Freedman, law practice management coordinator for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, will be one of the plenary session keynoters.

President of Freedman Consulting, she will speak on succession planning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, and will conduct a follow-up session at 10:15 a.m.

A certified legal manager, Freedman is an associate member of the ABA Sections of Law Practice Management and General Practice, Solo and Small Firms.

Other keynote presentations will vary from humorous to motivational, and offer insights on the balance between personal lives and practices. Tentative topics include retirement planning, identity theft, memory skills, and time and stress management.

Complimentary training will be given on Fastcase, the ISBA's free accelerated legal research system, and on procedures for e-filing in U.S. District Courts.
