St. Louis is site of 132nd Annual Meeting

Belleville attorney Jack C. Carey will succeed Joseph G. Bisceglia of Chicago as president of the Illinois State Bar Association during its 132nd Annual Meeting next month.

Carey, who has served on the ISBA Board of Governors since 2000, will be installed when association members convene Thursday through Saturday, June 26 to 28, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront Hotel (formerly Adam's Mark).

The meeting will begin with CLE Fest, a series of two-hour educational programs on 12 topics, at which one could earn as many as 14 hours of MCLE credit. The opening reception Thursday night is sponsored by the ISBA Mutual Insurance Co.

On Friday morning, the Committee on Law Office Management and Economics will hold a breakfast symposium. The CLE Fest will continue on Friday, offering nine topics for up to six additional MCLE hours, and an expo of products and services will take place.

The awards luncheon is scheduled Friday noon, when ISBA members will be recognized for their contributions to the profession and to access to justice for the underserved.

The annual banquet (black-tie optional) and installation ceremony will take place Friday night, including musical entertainment and dance tunes from the popular Ralph Butler Band.

On Saturday, the 13th annual networking breakfast, sponsored by the Committee on Women and the Law and Committee on Minority and Women Participation, will precede the semi-annual meeting of the ISBA Assembly. A continental breakfast for spouses and children also will be available.

Throughout the three-day convention, section councils and committees will hold organizational meetings to plan agendas for the coming year.

A day camp for youngsters is planned for Friday, along with a hospitality room for older kids during the Friday night banquet.

For hotel reservations, call (314) 655-1234 or (800) 233-1234 and provide ISBA member identification. The room rate is $115 for single or double. The reservation deadline is Monday, June 2.
