Judges Rated

Candidates for all judicial vacancies in the March 16 primary election have been rated by the Illinois State Bar Association and are listed county by county to make it easy for voters to find results for judges who will appear on their ballots.

Two methods were used in rating the candidates.

  • Evaluations - All Cook County candidates and candidates for Supreme and Appellate Court outside Cook County were evaluated by a committee of the State Bar. After an extensive background check and interviews of the candidates, the committee determined a rating of "highly qualified" "qualified" or "not qualified." These ratings represent the opinion of the Illinois State Bar Association.

  • Polls - All judicial candidates outside Cook County are rated by a poll of lawyers conducted by ISBA. Poll results express the opinion of those lawyers who chose to respond and are not the opinion of the Illinois State Bar Association.
