Conference planners have brought in two dynamic, nationally-known speakers--Jay Foonberg and Dustin Cole (see below)--and scheduled more than a dozen programs in three tracks from which to choose.

You'll learn how to organize and run a thriving practice-and how to enjoy your work, the latest on hot legal developments, computer/software tips and tricks, and get useful client relation and marketing advice. In the exhibit area, you'll get a chance to become acquainted with products and services especially for solo and small firms.

THIS FIRST ANNUAL Solo & Small Firm Conference is a special interest of mine. Its programs and events are focused on the heart of ISBA's membership - and that category includes me. We are the majority who bear full responsibility for both the legal and the business functions of our practices. It can be a tough road to follow. Jay Foonberg is a practicing lawyer, a nationally-known author of books and articles and a speaker to legal organizations throughout the world. As of counsel to Bailey & Partners in Santa Monica, CA, Mr. Foonberg practices in probate & trust litigation, business litigation and transactions, aviation law, and professional liability. He is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the ABA's General Practice, Solo and Small Firms Section and the ABA's prestigious Harrison Tweed Award as the Most Outstanding CLE Educator, among other recognitions. His most recently published book is an ABA best-seller: “How to Start and Build a Law Practice” and he is now completing work on “How to Close or Sell a Law Practice and Successfully Retire.”

Dustin Cole has trained over ten thousand attorneys across the country in how to build more successful practices. He brings more than 35 years of experience to every phase of business management, business development, and team development to his work with the legal profession. In addition to many years in private industry and of assisting law firms with public relations and marketing, Mr. Cole served as vice president of marketing for RUMGER Insurance Company, a lawyer's professional liability insurance provider. In 2002, he founded his own organization, Attorney's Master Class, to focus on supporting firms in increasing attorney revenues. Mr. Cole is a frequent keynoter and guest speaker nationwide, including the ABA and a dozen state bars.
