Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Mental Health Code
Court erred in entering orders committing Respondent involuntarily to a hospital for inpatient medical treatment. State presented neither a written predisposition report nor witness testimony as to what alternative treatments were available and why they were inappropriate, a treatment plan with timetables for treatment goals, or a social investigation of Respondent, and thus failed to meet its burden of proof. Strict compliance with procedural safeguards of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code is required. (CARTER, concurring; SCHMIDT, dissenting.)
