Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Employment Law
Plaintiff sought administrative review of a decision of the Streator Township Board of Education that dismissed her employment as a tenured school guidance counselor. The circuit court reversed the Board’s decision and the Board appealed, arguing that plaintiff’s conduct was irremediable. The appellate court affirmed the trial court, finding that plaintiff did not have a clear duty to report unsubstantiated rumors of an improper relationship between a student and a teacher to DCFS and that her conduct was remediable. (LYTTON, concurring and HAUPTMAN, dissenting.)
