Complimentary Program

The goal of the training is to introduce the lawyers to Juvenile Court in Cook County and the opportunity that exists to serve as a court appointed lawyer in juvenile proceedings. The presentation by the judges will provide participants with a working knowledge of both delinquency and child abuse proceedings such that they may provide competent and effective counsel as court appointed attorneys in the proceedings.

The vast majority of appointment opportunities exist in the Child Protection Division, representing a parent or the minor as Guardian ad Litem and attorney. Accordingly, participants will be provided with a detailed flow chart of Child Protection proceedings, a chart that describes and outlines the benefits of the Juvenile Court Mediation Program. Participants will also be provided with common form orders used in child protection proceedings.
