According to the Illinois Courts web site: "On January 14, 2013, Judge White was sworn in as an Appellate Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, Fourth District." Thus, Justice White has been on the appellate court for almost 1 1/2 years.

As the article indicates, Justice White had only been assigned to the Fourth District since early 2013. The new order appoints her to the seat and thus vacates the Sixth Circuit seat she had held. This appointment will allow the resulting circuit seat vacancy to be filled by Supreme Court appointment and restore Macon County to a full complement of judges. The difference is assignment versus appointment.
