DuPage County accepting applications for associate judge vacancy

Authorization pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 39 has been received by the Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit to post a notice of vacancy for associate judge. The associate judge position is the result of the resignation of Associate Judge Jane Hird Mitton effective July 4, 2016. Applications are now being accepted for this vacancy which will be filled by vote of the Circuit judges of the 18th Judicial Circuit.

Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 39, any attorney, who is a United States citizen, is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois, and is a resident of the 18th judicial Circuit may apply by electronically filing a signed application with the Director of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts on the form prescribed and furnished by the Director. The instructions for submitting an application electronically are available on the Supreme Court's website: http://www.illinoiscourts.gov.

If unable to submit an application electronically, an applicant must submit two (2) signed originals of the prescribed application with the Director of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts at the address listed below:

Whether electronically flied, mailed or hand delivered, all applications must be received in the Administrative Office within 30 days after the date of this Notice. If filed electronically, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. If mailed or hand delivered, the deadline is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. A form for application may be obtained from either the Chief Judge's Office, the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts or from the Illinois Supreme Court website: http://www.illinoiscourts.gov and download from the
documents/application/forms link. Applications will not be accepted if submitted via facsimile.

Applicants for this position may also be required to make themselves available for an interview with the Circuit Judges of the 18th Judicial Circuit. If an interview is necessary, the applicants will be notified of the date, time and place of their interview at the close of the application period. Applicants are to refrain from contacting any Circuit judge regarding their candidacy. A Circuit Judge, however, may contact any applicant.
