Career opportunity: Marine Corps Judge Advocate

Full-time opportunities exist to pursue a career as a Marine Corps Judge Advocate. Marine Corps Judge Advocates are immediately given the responsibilities of maintaining their own caseloads and advising Marines on legal issues. Additionally, they are trained as Marine officers.

The first step in this program is to successfully complete the 10-week Marine Officer Candidates School (OCS) during the summer. Current law students (1L, 2L, 3L) and law school graduates can apply through the recruiting office in Champaign. With this program, there is no military obligation to serve. If you complete the training, you have the option to accept a commission as a Marine officer but are not required to do so.

To find out more, contact Captain Rory J. Kelly, USMC, at rory.kelly@marines.usmc.mil or 217-384-3088, or visit his office near the University of Illinois at 309 Green Street in Champaign.
