Richard Marks Joy 1944-2017

Richard Marks Joy, 73, of Champaign passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends on Monday, July 3, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after complications from pancreatic cancer.

Richard was a graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, the University of Michigan, and the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was an editor of the law review.

He clerked for Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert C. Underwood, was a former partner at the law firm of Dobbins, Fraker, Tennant, Joy, & Perlstein in Champaign, and a current partner at Tummelson Bryan & Knox in Urbana, with a practice focusing on business transactions, commercial and residential real estate, as well as workers' compensation.

He was an active member of the community, chairing committees and serving on various boards .
