Thomas A. Tyler Jr. 1950-2018

Thomas Arden Tyler Jr., 67, died Monday, July 23, 2018. He was born Oct. 3, 1950.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Jacqueline (DiVecchio) Tyler; his two beloved sons, Zachary Thomas Tyler and Jacob Grant Tyler; his sisters-­in-­law, Janet DiVecchio and Judith (James) Ramsay; niece and nephews, Jamie (Ric Horejs) Ramsay, Jason (Julie) Ramsay, and David Frogge; and his faithful four­legged dachshunds, Loki, Kaiser and Heidi; and his cat, Moo­Moo.

He is also survived by one uncle, Richard (Dorothy) Tyler; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol V. (Erickson) Tyler and Thomas A. Tyler Sr; maternal grandparents, Mary Jane (Williams) and Frederick Erickson; and paternal grandparents, Myrtle (Guest) and James Tyler. 

Tom grew up in the small town of Elwood and considered himself blessed to have so many cousins and friends to play with during his childhood. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University and his juris doctor and masters of law degrees from the John Marshal Law School. 

Tom began his career working in Chicago for the Commodity Exchange Commission as an investigator and then as an attorney from 1974 until 1984. He then went to work for his father at Merit Employment Assessment Services, Inc. He served as vice president and then president of the company in 1984.

He was a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association.
