The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP recently announced that Michael D. Weis has joined the firm as a partner at the firm's main office in Chicago.

Weis joins the firm's commercial transactions practice group.

Weis has more than 30 years of experience as a business and commercial transactions attorney. He focuses his practice on a wide range of commercial matters from mergers and acquisitions, securities, and corporate governance to real estate and lending and estate planning and administration. He has handled the negotiation and closing of hundreds of complex corporate and commercial real estate transactions both domestically and internationally. He represents companies across a range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, health care, food and beverage, technology, and professional services.

Prior to joining Hinshaw, Weis practiced at other law firms in Illinois, including a Chicago-based firm where he served as chair of the business and transactional practice. He has also served as general counsel for a long-term care organization.
