Bernstein Law Firm LLC has announced the addition of attorney Jay D. Stein to the firm.

Stein’s addition to the team will allow the firm to offer representation to individuals in all aspects of family law, including valuation and disposition of high value business interests, maintenance, and child concerns, such as support, custody and visitation, parentage cases, premarital and post-marital agreements, and other aspects of family law.

Stein began his career as a judicial law clerk to Justice Robert J. Downing of the Illinois Appellate Court in 1981,and from there was a litigation partner at Gould & Ratner. In his most recent position, he was a founding partner of Stein & Stein, Ltd., where he practiced for 26 years. 

Stein has represented leading business executives, entrepreneurs, and their spouses, including members of many of the most well-known families in Chicago. Notably, he represented the wife of Bill Wrigley, Jr., the chewing gum magnate, in a lengthy and complicated case in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Stein is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is an alumnus of Northwestern University and Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
