Volunteer for Ask A Lawyer Day

Not all heroes wear capes. You can make a difference in your community by volunteering for Ask A Lawyer Day, our annual event that recognizes and celebrates Law Day, on April 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. As a volunteer, you will answer calls and field general legal questions from Illinois residents. This is a state-wide public relations effort that helps enhance the image of the profession and receives considerable attention from the public and the media.

Volunteers are needed to answer calls at the Illinois Bar Center offices in Springfield*. There are also opportunities to volunteer remotely by answering questions by email. Breakfast and training will be provided for volunteers.

Michael "Mike" Brian Roche, died suddenly on February 25, six weeks after the death of his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Roche. Loving father of Michael (Megan) Roche, Kevin (Laura) Roche, and Maura "Molly" (Dawn Walsh) Roche. Much loved grandfather of Jack, Margaret, Dennis, Claire, and Colin Roche. Dear brother of Kathleen "Lolly" Petrillo.

George E. Krippner, age 80, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 following an extended illness. He was born April 2, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edward and Beatrice (Falout) Krippner. George was born and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood of Southwest Chicago, surrounded by his extended family. He attended grammar school at Blessed Agnes of Bohemia, where his Uncle George was the Pastor.

Thomas Charles "Chuck" Kenniff, age 79 of Naperville, passed away peacefully after a long battle from Myelodysplastic syndromes, Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 31, 1938 in Sioux City, IA to his loving late parents, Thomas Joseph and Hertha Kenniff. Cherished husband of Kathryn "Kate" Kenniff, nee Liebrich, wedded on September 14, 1968. Beloved father of Andrew (Niki) Kenniff of Lawrence, KS and Kevin (Vicki) Kenniff of Naperville. Adored grandfather of Lucy and Leo Kenniff, Jack and Charlotte Kenniff.

USAO Seeks Assistant U.S. Attorney

The United States Attorney Office for the Northern District is accepting applications for an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) opening in its Civil Division in Chicago. The applicant selected will represent the U.S. government as an AUSA in a wide range of defensive and affirmative civil litigation on behalf of the United States, its agencies, and its employees.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 2 years post-J.D. experience. United States citizenship is required.

Wheaton law firm Mirabella, Kincaid, Frederick & Mirabella, LLC recently hired Amanda M. Zannoni as a new associate. Zannoni is a May 2017 graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, where she received her juris doctor and a certificate in estate planning. She was sworn into the Illinois State Bar in November 2017 and practices estate planning and family law. While at Syracuse, she worked for the Elder Law Clinic and represented elderly clients in the areas of family law, estate planning, and elder law.
