The Illinois State Bar Association is a proud co-sponsor of the Benefit in Support of Higher Education in Haiti on January 23, 2024. The goal is to unite the legal community and other associations in supporting the construction of a center for higher education in Sant-Marc, Haiti, the birthplace of Jean-Baptiste Point du Sable, founder of the City of Chicago.

The ISBA Assembly met on Friday, December 8, at the 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting held at the JW Marriott Chicago.
During the meeting, the Assembly listened to a DEI presentation, "Ways to Improve and Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Legal Profession," by Toussaint Romain with the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy.

In conjunction with the February celebration of the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln, the judges of the Lake County Circuit Court will be among the many Illinois judges to deliver a program to grade school students based on the popular children’s book by Martha Brenner, Abe Lincoln’s Hat.

On Dec. 8, 2023, the ISBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) presented the CLE program, Beyond Objection: Using Theatre Techniques for Effective Counsel, in conjunction with the Joint Midyear Meeting at the JW Marriott in Chicago. Speaker Nelson Velazquez (Nezprov Productions) engaged attendees in a number of interactive activities that are used by improvisational actors to help strengthen quick-thinking and story-telling abilities.
YLD Vice-Chair Hannah R. Lamore of Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC, in Joliet, IL, served as the program moderator.

The ISBA Standing Committee on Women & the Law will host the 2024 Annual Tea Celebrating Women's History Month on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Loews Chicago Hotel, 455 North Park Drive.

The ISBA offices will be closed for the holidays from Friday, December 22, through Monday, January 1. The offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 2. During this time, E-Clips and other digital newsletters will not be delivered. All business and e-newsletter distribution will resume as usual on January 2, 2024.

The 2023 Joint Midyear Meeting was held Dec. 7-8, 2023, at the JW Marriott, 151 West Adams Street, Chicago. Attendees celebrated the profession, discussed issues of mutual interest to the bench and bar, attended business meetings, earned CLE credit, and expanded their social and professional networks at receptions and dinners.
